Ice Maker Not Working

Likely causes

  • Frozen or kinked water supply line
  • Faulty water inlet valve
  • Failed ice maker module
  • Blocked or frosted-over freezer air vent
  • Clogged inline water filter

When an ice maker stops producing ice, the cause is usually upstream of the ice maker itself. A frozen or kinked water line and a clogged inline filter are two of the most common culprits, and both can be checked without replacing the ice maker.

If water is reaching the unit but ice still isn’t forming, a faulty water inlet valve or a failed ice maker module are the next likely causes. We test water flow and electrical signal to the module before recommending a replacement, since ice maker assemblies are one of the pricier parts to swap unnecessarily.
